Control of cercaria causing bilharziasis - using amphoteric surfactants

Method of controlling cercariae capable of transmitting bilharziasis comprises contacting the cercariae with at least one amphoteric surfactant of the betaine or imidazoline type. The surfactants inactivate the cercariae in water, inhibit their penetration through the skin and inhibit their development into adults in vivo.
