PURPOSE:To obtain a low-cost device, by shaping the end part of the aperture part of the electronic shutter for the light into an arc form, which projects toward the outside, in the vertical direction at least. CONSTITUTION:Liquid crystal 1 having the optical rotary effect, transparent electrodes 2 and 3, light-transmittable piezoelectric porcelain of the non-ferrodielectric phase, crossing finger electrodes 7 and 8, and electrodes 7' and 8' provided on the reverse face of plane plate 6 symmetrically for electrodes 2 and 3 are provided. Electrodes 7, 8, 7' and 8' are shaped into arc forms projecting toward the outside in the vertical direction in end parts, and the aperture part of the electronic shutter is shaped into the same form. Since the aperture part is extended in the horizontal direction rather than the vertical direction, it becomes an ellipse approximating the form of eyes of the human which is seen from the outside in comparison with the conventional square-form aperture. Consequently, the required area of electrodes for the electronic shutter action becomes narrower than the conventional that, and the cost is lowered. |
