PURPOSE:To obtain the area of a closed loop region simply at a high speed, by tracing the edge of the closed loop region by one round, using the direction of trace as the sign of the distance from a reference line, and obtaining the algebraic sum of the distances at each tracing point. CONSTITUTION:A bit pattern is sent to a memory 2 through a data processing device. The coordinate values of the trace starting point are sent to a start point register 41 and a current point register 42 in an edge tracing part 4. When an area command signal 103 is sent to a control part 1, a clear signal is sent to an area cummulation device 5, and a trace signal is sent to an R/W circuit 3. The circuit 3 receives the coordinate values of the tracing points from the register 42, gives them to the memory 2, gives the pattern data in the vicinities of the tracing points to a direction detecting circuit 43, and sends the sign corresponding to the tracing direction to the area cummulation device 5. The cummulation device 5 obtaines the algebraic sum of the heights of the tracing points and obtains the area of the closed loop. |
