An non-aq. conductive liq. as an electrolyte additive for lithium- sulphur dioxide electrochemical cells comprises a soln. of at least one quinone imine dye of formula (I), being free of acidic H atoms, and at least one Li salt in liq. SO2. In (I), R1 is H or C1-5 alkyl; X is O or S; Y is O or -4+R4R5; R2, R3, R4 and R5 are each C1-5 alkyl. (I) reduces a polarization which is observed during current flow conditions. |
