<p>This invention discloses a method of aligning liquid crystal molecules of an active matrix liquid crystal display device including an active substrate (1) having a switching device for driving pixels and an opposed substrate (2) opposing the active substrate (1). Rubbing is conducted to effect the alignment on the active substrate in two directions, i.e. the direction (22) of auxiliary alignment and the direction (23) of main alignment, while rubbing is conducted on the opposed substrate in a direction different from that of main alignment so as to minimize the influence of shadows due to the protuberances on the active substrate.</p> |
