<p>A solvent recovery system (10) includes an evaporator unit (24) having a heat source (30) for vaporizing contaminated solvent. The resulting vapors are subsequently liquefied in a condensing unit (46). During evaporation and condensation of the solvent, a negative pressure is maintained within the system (10) using a vacuum generator (80). After condensation, the liquid solvent passes into at least one accumulator (76) which is periodically drained. The accumulator (76) and vacuum generator (80) operate in synchronization so that a vacuum is maintained in the system (10) while drainage of the accumulator (76) occurs. Since the evaporation and condensation systems (24, 46) of the invention are maintained at a negative pressure, any leaks therein do not result in the escape of flammable vapors.</p> |
