<p>This invention relates to the use of tetraalkylpyromellitates as plasticisers for PVC for use in articles for biomedical use. The pyromellitates are less toxic than the conventionally used phthalates and trimellitates and are extracted less readily by the biological fluids in contact therewith. The articles that can be produced with PVC plasticised in this manner include dialysis tubes, catheters and blood bags.</p> |
