PURPOSE:To enable stable measurement of concentration in a wide range with a simple-structured sensor by flowing an alcohol solution through ceramics beads to which reaction catalyst is fixed and measuring the flow potentical. CONSTITUTION:When a valve 7 is opened and a pump 8 is driven, pure water flows through a pipe 6 into a glass column 1, passes through beads 2 and then drains away from a pipe 16. Then the valve 7 is closed and a valve 14 is opened to introduce an alcohol solution 11 reserved in a container 9 into the column 1 through a capillary Cp and pipe 13. During the solution 11 passes through the beads 2, the solution 11 dissociates since alcohol dehydrogenase as the reaction catalyst element is fixed to the beads 2, and thus, flow potential generates according to the concentration of the solution. This potential is measured by connecting mesh electrodes 3, 4 and using a potentiometer 5. The obtd. biosensor can measure concentrations of a wide range. |
