The transporting equipment is particularly for items stacked loosely one above the other. It has a set of guides (14, 14A) and a lifting tool (15) raising the item at one or more sides, whereupon a lifting member (20) is inserted under the item. It can be used with trays of eggs, the tool width being equal to twice the centre distance between adjacent tray bosses.
