PURPOSE:To extract the information of a rectangular area on binary picture information at high speed by providing an extracting means and calculating a logical product for the unit of a row with data, for which a bit corresponds to ON, concerning the part of the rectangular area. CONSTITUTION:A storing means 1 is provided with a binary picture information developing area 11 and stores the binary picture information. A writing means 2 writes a white dot to the binary picture information in a binary picture information storing area 20 and writes the information to the area 11 so that the respective rows can be started from the boundary of words. A retrieving means 3 executes retrieval to shift a segmenting area based on the number of the dots in one side with including the whole area 11. Next, since the logical product is calculated by an extracting means 4 with the data, for which the bit corresponds to ON, concerning the part of the rectangular area, the information of the rectangular area can be extracted at high speed. A reading means 5 is also provided to delete the above mentioned white dot and to read the binary picture information of the area 11 to the area 20. |
