PURPOSE:To recover irregularities in printing density, omission of dot, and reduction of printing density by printing the same printing information on the same printing position by multi times with a different position of a ribbon. CONSTITUTION:After printing is completed once, the number of printing stored in a nonvolatile memory 37 is incrementally changed by a CPU 39, and the result is again stored in the nonvolatile memory 37. Thereafter, a manuscript is discharged by a feed roller 11. If, in the judgement whether the number of printing exceeds a predetermined value, the value of the nonvolatile memory 37 is judged by the CPU 39 to be more than the predetermined value, a character, such as a control number, that is previously received from an external host device is printed out on the surface of the manuscript by a printing part 14. After printing is finished once, a ribbon is fed, and the same character is again printed out on the same printing position of the manuscript by the printing part 14. Thereafter, the number of printing is incrementally changed, the result is stored in the memory, and the manuscript is discharged. Since the reduction of ribbon density with the increase of the number of printing results in a lower printing density, an overlap printing is conducted. In this overlap printing, a printing density can be recovered even with the reduction of ribbon density, and a favorable printing result can be obtained even if the remaining life of the ribbon is not so long. |
