Two cable ends (1, 2), which are arranged parallel to one another and side by side in a horizontal plane, are pivoted in this plane to such an extent that that cable (2) which is located at the front in the pivoting direction rests against an insertion curve (10), which falls away downwards, of an alignment bracket (11). The cables (1, 2) are subsequently lowered downwards, the movement of that cable (2) which rests against the insertion curve (10) being delayed by friction, and said cable (2) moving above the cable (1), which is initially lowered without any friction, during the movement, as a result of the insertion curve. A vertical directing edge (10) which is adjacent to the insertion curve (10) then ensures that the two cables (1, 2) are located exactly one above the other, in which position the stripped ends of said cables can be inserted from above into a clamping holder (terminal holder) of a fitting (7). <IMAGE>
