PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of operation by using an electric device as synchronous motor on the start of an engine and controlling the electric device on the basis of the outputs of an angle sensor and a standard position sensor and permitting the pseudostandard position signal to be generated when the standard position sensor fails. CONSTITUTION:An electric device 3 interposed between an engine 1 and a transmission 2 connected with the output shaft of the engine 1 consists of a main body 30, main circuit part 4, and a magnetic field controller 5, and is operated as power generator or motor by an ECU 6, and operated as synchronous motor at least on the start of the engine. The electric conduction for the electrical device 3 in the use as synchronous motor is controlled on the basis of the outputs of a standard position sensor 11 and an angle sensor 12. In this case, if the trouble of the standard position sensor 11 is detected by a trouble detecting means 6b, a pseudostandard position is prepared by a pseudostandard position adjusting means 6d, and the pseudostandard position is corrected towards the increase of the engine starting revolution speed. |
