PURPOSE:To easily detect the defect of a line switching device with only a station to be controlled by inserting a test pattern to check interfaces and operations among a switching pattern discriminating part, a memory part, a display/operation part, and a control part. CONSTITUTION:The test pattern start command generated in a display/operation part 6 due to depression of a button by a maintenance man is inputted to a test pattern control part 72 through an operation control part 71. The control part 72 generates a test pattern select signal to a selecting part 31 of a switching pattern generating part 3 and switches input information from an input interface part 2 to a pattern generating part 73 and sends a pattern generating signal thereafter, and a prescribed test pattern signal is generated from the pattern generating part. A test pattern OK signal is sent to the control part 72 from the operation control part 71 in accordance with the test pattern OK signal from the display/operation part 6 and the signal from a discriminating part 5 obtained by discriminating the switch state of a switch part, thus terminating the test pattern operation.
