A method and various forms of apparatus are disclosed relating to the fabrication of solid particulate filter bodies (21) and other honeycombed structures, in which the cells (22) are selectively charged with a plugging or other flowable material (34). A solid covering (28), preferably being an adhesive-backed transparent thermoplastic film such as polyester, is applied over each of the end faces (23, 24) of the honeycomb structure.
