PURPOSE:To obtain a sealed lead-acid battery having good discharge performance, long life, and low cost by expanding a lead or lead alloy sheet with a non-expanded part left in the center to form a net and by cutting it in a unit plate to form a current collecting part and a lug in the non-expanded part. CONSTITUTION:A continuous sheet comprising a lead-calcium alloy is expanded to form nets on both sides with a non-expanded part 7 left in the center. Part (a) of the non-expanded part 7 is punched, then the nets are filled with a pasty active material. When the sheet is cut, the current collecting part of each unit plate is formed in the non-expanded part 7 and part of the current collecting part is extended over the net to form a lug. A negative plate A consists of a net 1' and the non-expanded part 7 having an extended part 6 which extends over the net 1'. A sealed lead-acid battery having good discharge performance, long life, and low cost is manufactured. |
