The device for optically sorting pieces of glass comprises a light source 50 capable of emitting at least two primary distinct selected light waves each having a narrow spectrum. These are transmitted simultaneously by each piece of glass OU to produce two secondary light waves. The device also comprises receiving means 52 which receive these secondary waves and deliver two secondary signals, the amplitudes of which are representative of the light intensities of the two respective secondary waves, and selecting means 53, 54 capable of choosing between the pieces of glass OU in order to select those of a first colour OUA and those of a second colour OUA by determining the ratio between the amplitudes of these two secondary signals. <IMAGE>
