Method for fitting a connector pin to the end of an optical waveguide

A method is specified for fitting a connector pin to the end of an optical waveguide (1). The light-guiding fibre (2), from which a protective layer has been removed, of the optical waveguide (1) is inserted rectilinearly and in a clamped state into an injection moulding die (7) and centred therein. The connector pin, which consists of plastic, is subsequently injection-moulded around the fibre (2). During the injection-moulding process and during the cooling phase of the connector pin, the fibre (2) is continuously held in a central position with respect to the circumferential surface of the connector pin by automatic adjustment. <IMAGE>
