The cellular-wheel sluice contains, in the inlet channel 16, a ploughshare stripper 23, the lower stripping edge 24 of which cooperates with cover strips 26 which project rearwards from the vanes 14 of the cellular wheel 12. Arranged above the ploughshare stripper 23 are oblique guide walls 27 which concentrate the stream of material on to the middle of the inlet channel 16. The ploughshare stripper 23, in conjunction with the cover strips 26, prevents numerous material particles from jamming between the rear wall 22 of the inlet channel 16 and a vane 14 and together blocking the rotation of the cellular wheel 12. <IMAGE>
