The invention relates to a method of activating an adhesive film which is applied to a substrate material, by heating before carrying out adhesive bonding with a further material. Rays of heat are produced and are focused on the section of the substrate material on which the adhesive film is to be activated prior to adhesive bonding of a further material. In this context the heat rays are focused by a reflector onto the focal point thereof.
