PURPOSE:To produce an optical element having a slight coloring or burning and excellent light-transmission by performing melt molding of resin composition comprising aromatic vinyl-based polymer and polyphenylene ether stabilized by specific treatment. CONSTITUTION:B1: 0.1-10 pts.wt. granular metallic zinc and 1-20 pts.wt. acetic anhydride are added to a solution composed of 100 pts.wt. polyphenylene ether [preferably poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene) ether] and a solvent, then reacted in nitrogen atmosphere at room temperature-boiling point of the solvent, thus metallic zinc is removed to obtain a composition B1. Next, B2: 1-20 pts.wt. silylating agent (e.g. trimethylchlorsilane) is added to the composition B1 and reacted to obtain a composition B. Then, a resin composition composed of (A) 30-70wt.% a polymer containing >=50wt.% aromatic vinyl monomer (styrene is preferable) and (B) 30-70wt.% the composition B is subjected to melt molding to produce the aimed optical element. |
