PURPOSE:A water-absorbing molding having high strength, excellent feeling and appearance and being suitable for growing, preserving or packaging plants, prepared by dispersing an inorganic or organic material in a continuous phase of a highly water-absorbing polymer. CONSTITUTION:A highly water-absorbing polymer (e.g., a mixture, weight ratio about 99-20:1-80, of a polyvinyl alcohol modified with about 1-10mol% unsaturated carboxylic acid and a polyvinyl alcohol) is mixed with an inorganic material (e.g., pearlite) and/or organic material (e.g., peat moss), and the resulting mixture is molded into a desired shape. |
