PURPOSE:To enable manufacture of a toner having a particle diameter of 5 - 15mum by stirring a suspension polymerization reactor under conditions specified in the diameter of stirring blades and the linear end speed of the blades of the reactor to execute the polymerization reaction. CONSTITUTION:The stirring conditions are as follows: r=0.1 - 0.8 R, preferably, 0.5 - 0.8 R, and the linear speed of the end of the stirring blades 6 is >=5m/sec, preferably, 7 - 20m/sec, where r is the diameter of the stirring blades 6 of the reactor 1 and R is the inner diameter of the reactor 1. Division of liquid drops mainly depends upon the impact force of the blades 6, and the diameters of the drops produced under such conditions are comparatively stable in the range of <=10mum, and reunion of the drops themselves due to contact or approach to each other is restrained, thus permitting the small toner particles, such as <=10mum diameters, to be obtained with good efficiency. |
