PURPOSE:To stably perform a recording or erasing operation with high reliability by providing a mode switching control circuit to permit the migration of a mode from a reproducing mode to a recording mode or to an erasing mode when the output of an error detection circuit is set within a prescribed range. CONSTITUTION:The mode switching control circuit 22 is comprised a gate circuit 20, a controller 21, and first and second switches 8 and 9. When the mode is migrated from the reproducing mode to the recording mode, the migration to the recording mode is prohibited at a stage where the error of a value held at a reproduction time value holding circuit 10 for a control signal that is the output of a control circuit 5 is large and the holding of the control signal in reproduction is not sufficiently attained. And actual migration to the recording mode is performed at the stage where the value held at the reproduction time value holding circuit 10 almost coincides with the output of the control circuit 5 as a result of comparison at the error detection circuit 19. Thereby, it is possible to stably perform the recording operation by a recording power. |
