Technique for the chemical hydrolysis of spent or residual oils with a view to their removal by a biological route. The invention relates to a chemical technique capable of solubilising the spent oils or oily residues in water in order to facilitate their removal by adapted microorganisms. This technique consists in fixing polar groups, using chlorosulphonic acid, to nonpolar hydrocarbons in order to confer a high polarity on them. It is necessary, before introducing the microorganisms capable of degrading these water-dissolved oils, to neutralise the medium obtained.
