PURPOSE:To enable detecting surely the oblique movement and side slippage of a sheet through one sensor by comparing a detected value at the left and right end positions of a printing paper with a value set by a sheet left and right end position setting means and by providing a printing stop control means for stop-controlling a printing operation, when any inconsistency is detected. CONSTITUTION:One photosensor 12 is moved and controlled from side to set the right and left ends and the right and left side side to print limiting positions of a printing sheet 16 and the reference position of a head on RAM 3, respectively. A printing operation is started in said state. Then, whenever one line printing is conducted, the left and right ends of said printing paper 16 are detected by said photosensor 12. Also, the detected left and right and positions are compared with the set values of the left and right end positions set on the RAM 3. As a result, when the detected value coincides with the set value, printing is switched to that of the next one line. Thus, the set value and the detected one are compared for printing of each line and when any inconsistency is detected, a slippage is judged to be generated in the printing paper 16 so that printing is stopped. Then, an alarm 14 is operated to communicate this matter as paper jam. |
