PURPOSE:To obtain the plastic optical fiber having excellent heat resistance by constituting the fiber of a specific core and a specific clad provided on the core. CONSTITUTION:The core consists of copolymerized crosslinked matter of the constitutional unit of the polybutadiene resin expressed by formula I and polyalkyl methacrylate or styrene and the clad consists of a resin having the refractive index smaller by >=3% than the refractive index of the core. In the formula I, R is H, CmHp (m, P are integer), COOH or OH. The polyalkyl methacrylate or styrene which is the 2nd component contained in the copolymerized crosslinked matter is incorporated at <=30% by weight. The fiber capable of withstanding >=150 deg.C is obtd. in this way. |
