The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for producing a multilayered plastic container, in particular a gas-tight plastic tank for motor vehicles, in which a possibly multilayered, preferably tubular film of plastic is introduced into a holding mould, in which then a tubular parison is extruded from thermoplastic material into the holding mould provided with the film of plastic and is bonded to the film of plastic from the inside to form a compositive moulding and in which subsequently the container is moulded in a blow mould. According to the invention, in this process, the composite moulding is moulded and cured in the blow mould to form the container while the holding mould is provided with the film of plastic for the next composite moulding. While the next parison is then being extruded into the holding mould and bonded to the film of plastic, the finished container can be removed from the blow mould. The holding mould and the blow mould are arranged at a lateral distance from each other and can be displaced alternately under an extruder die.
