The invention relates to a three-phase arc furnace having an elongate furnace vessel with at least three electrodes, arranged in the direction of the longitudinal furnace axis, of a three-phase system, to which electrodes heavy-current lines lead which have a flexible piece of line and are connected, via the electrode, in series with the secondary windings of a transformer in such a manner that the electrodes form the circuit points of a three-phase delta connection. To improve the electrical balance of a three-phase arc furnace of this kind and to minimise the power losses, a complete bifilar routing of all heavy-current lines is proposed according to the invention.
