<p>PURPOSE: To improve the performance of a packet selecting device for selecting packets to each destination by providing a plurality of inputting means which store packets, selecting means respectively incorporated in the inputting means, and a means which transfers packets from the inputting means. CONSTITUTION: A packet network 101 having 16 input ports 102 and 16 data ports 103 is constituted in a nonblocking type which is used for a set of input packets each of which contains only one packet. Each input port 102 is connected to an input packet channel 104 by means of each trunk controller 105 and the controller 105 receives incoming packets from the channel 104, stores the packets in a buffer 108, and selects the packets sent to the input ports 102 from the buffer 108. All trunk controllers 105 synchronously operate so as to send packets to the network 101 at the time of starting packet return. Therefore, the packet selecting ability of a packet selecting device is improved based on the effectiveness of destinations and the device can operate at a high speed.</p> |
