<p>A sewage pumping system for use in residential sewer systems. The pumping system (10) includes a sump (14), a intake conduit (42), a discharge conduit (44), and a pump (18) for pumping sewage from the sump through the intake into discharge conduits. The pump (18) is a piston type pump with rolling resilient O-rings (24) received between the piston (22) and cylinder (20). Four check valves are provided, two of which are located in the intake conduit (48a, 48b) and two of which are located in the discharge conduit (48c, 48d). The check valves in the intake conduit are spaced apart approximately 3 to 4 feet and the check valves and the intake conduit are also spaced apart approximately 3 to 4 feet. The check valves insure that the flow through the conduits is unidirectional and the spacing of the check valves insures that they will not be both wedged in the open position by passage of debris therethrough.</p> |
