PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive enclosed lead storage battery having excellent life performance by employing a separator body primarily made of glass fiber in which string-shaped objects made of acid resisting synthetic fiber or glass fiber are embedded at right angles to the direction of the thickness of the separator body. CONSTITUTION:String-shaped objects 3 made of acid resisting synthetic fiber or glass fiber are embedded in a storage battery separator body 2 made primarily of glass fiber at right angles to the direction of the thickness of the storage battery separator body 2. The acid resisting synthetic fiber or glass fiber string- shaped objects serve as ribs, providing substantially improved separator pressure resistance. Thus, if the number of pole plates in use is increased, their pitch can be kept constant. Further, selecting the direction in which the string-shaped objects are arranged can help to prevent liquid layering. In this manner, an inexpensive enclosed lead storage battery which has a constant pole plate pitch and an excellent life performance can be obtained. |
