Each cooling tube (12), of flattened elliptical cross-section, with the major axis transverse to the collection box, protrudes through a crest (38) of the latter's undulating baseplate (34). Interstitial fins (14) aid cooling. The collecting volumes (26,28) are enclosed by a channel (36) whose skirts overlap the baseplate; where necessary to partition the box to control fluid circulation (54), or seal the ends (56), the channel is transversely indented (52), providing meeting surfaces with selected undulations (40) or ends of the baseplate. Where external connections (24) are provided, the channel is C-shaped in section; elsewhere it has a W-section, providing two longitudinal cavities (64) side-by-side, with the area between (62) contacting the baseplate undulations (40). The aluminium, or alloy, components, coated with brazing alloy, are integrated by heat treatment.
