A method for preparing 2-guanidinothiazole derivs. of formula (I) comprises (A) reacting amidinothiourea of formua (II) with 1,3dihaloacetone to produce a cpd. of formula (III) (B) and then reacting (III) with thiourea in the pressence of water. In the formulas, Y is -C(NH2)NH; X is halogen. (I) active against gastric acid secretion.
