<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound at a low cost by isomerizing an (E)-isomer corresponding to the subject compound through a tetrahydropyranylation step, an epoxidization step, an olefin conversion reaction step and a detetrahydropyranylation step. CONSTITUTION:The objective (Z)-isomer of the compound of formula I useful as a sex pheromone of cotton seed weevil is produced in high yield and purity at a low cost by (1) reacting 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran with an (E)-isomer of formula 5 in the presence of a catalyst to obtain an (E)-isomer of formula 4 (OTHP is tetrahydropyranyloxy), (2) epoxidizing the isomer with an organic peracid in an organic solvent, (3) contacting the produced compound of formula 3 with a base, (4) treating with an alkyl halide to effect olefin conversion reaction and obtain a (Z)-isomer of formula 2 and finally (5) contacting the isomer with a catalyst to effect detetrahydropyranylation reaction.</p> |
