Vehicle door lock with holding surfaces, characterised by a horizontally arranged disc 3 (Fig. 4), with a surface piece 3a (Fig. 4) extending from the outer circumference in the direction of the centre axis, the locking position 5 (Fig. 4) and a toothing 4 (Fig. 4) for driving the disc 3 (Fig. 4). The closure movement and opening position of the door are effected in conjunction with the holding surface 2a (Fig. 4) in the holder 2 (Fig. 4). The rotation of the disc 3 (Fig. 4) into the open position of the door lock is only possible, from the drive shaft 7 (Fig. 4), when the cam 8 (Fig. 4) has lifted the catch 9 (Fig. 4) from the locking position 5 (Fig. 4) and has thus passed through a given angle 12 (Fig. 5). Only now can the driving toothed wheel 11 (Fig. 5), driven by the carrier 13 (Fig. 5), turn the disc 3 (Fig. 4) into the open position. The door, pulled shut or pushed shut, is gripped by the rotating disc 3 (Fig. 4) and its holding surface 3a (Fig. 4) via the holding surface 2a (Fig. 4) in the holder 2 (Fig. 5) and is brought into the locked position.
