PURPOSE:To obtain the same effect with a large-capacity device without increasing the overall scale by providing a waveform data storage device with a decimal point position converting circuit for sending an address out and varying the number of bits of the address corresponding to a musical tone generator. CONSTITUTION:The electronic musical instrument is equipped with the decimal point position converting circuit which divides an address corresponding to key information into an integer part address and a decimal part address and sends the former out to a waveform data storage device 4 as an address, and the number of bits of the address for accessing the waveform data storage device 4 is varied corresponding to the musical tone generator. Further, the waveform data storage device 4 is stored previously with waveform data corresponding to many kinds of timbre and sound ranges corresponding to banks. Consequently, the number of address bits is converted into the necessary size of a bank, so the musical instrument can be operated so as to obtain a musical tone with variation in timbre similarly to the utilization of a large-capacity storage device. |
