PURPOSE:To profitably provide the subject compound useful as a raw material for optically active drugs or agricultural chemicals, etc., by reacting (R,S)-1- phenylethylalcohol with a carboxylic acid in the presence of an O- methoxypolyethylene glycol-modified lipase in a solvent. CONSTITUTION:(R,S)-1-Phenylethylalcohol is acted on a carboxylic acid (e.g. lauric acid) in a solvent such as an organic solvent (e.g. 1,1,1-trichloroethane) in the presence of an O-methoxypolyethylene glycol-modified lipase prepared by partially substituting the amino groups of a lipase with an O- methoxypolyethylene glycol derivative to produce the (R)-1-phenylethyl ester of the carboxylic acid and (S)-1-phenylethylalcohol, followed by separating the products by a high performance liquid chromatography and by hydrolyzing the (R)-1-phenylethyl ester to provide (R)- and (S)-1-phenylethyl esters. |
