Automatic handling machine for used hypodermic syringes - has TV monitoring system and belts ejecting objects other than syringes

The user inserts a used hypodermic syringe (2) in a chute (1) which leads to an area where two transporter belts (3) operate at unequal speeds. The belts cause objects (5) other than syringes to be rejected via another chute (6). Syringes (2) or similar shaped items fall between a reflective rear plate (12) and a transparent front plate (13) and into a sealed container (7). The syringes can be observed by a closed circuit CCD TV system (10,11). The plates are surrounded by a metal detecting coil (9).
