PURPOSE: To secure the safety of a vehicle in the event of system failure by mounting a steer control member in the vehicle by use of a device permitting repeated limited translational movement of the member, and enabling the translational movement to be controlled. CONSTITUTION: A bed 2 serving as a movable member is mounted on a mount 1 by a flexible mounting part 5 mounted thereon, and the bed 2 itself is secured to a steer control member such as the steering rack 3 of a steer control device including a track rod end 6. The flexible mounting part 5 is provided for mounting on the mount 1 in order to permit repeated limited translational movement of the bed 2 by several millimeters in the direction of the axis of a steering rack 3 for the purpose of adding a certain amount of adjustment to the steer angle selected by a driver. The movement of the bed 2 is controlled by a control unit 4 according to data such as the steer angle, the translational backward and yaw angle accelerations of the vehicle, the rate of change in yaw, and the vehicle speed. |
