<p>A device for aiding an angler by indicating the presence of a fish on his line comprises a variable capacitor (6; 27) having a fixed plate and a movable plate (5; 26), a deflectable member (4; 25) mechanically linked to the movable plate, and detector means (9) connected to produce an electrical signal in response to variations in the capacitance of the variable capacitor. The device is suitable for attachment to a fishing rod (3), for example for sea fishing, or for mounting (21) upon a bank stick (22) for example for fresh-water fishing.</p> |
