PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DC-DC converter which is easy to control, and also small in switching loss and high in efficiency by enlarging the time ratio of a main switch. SOLUTION: The inductor for commutation of a back converter is provided with a middle tap, and a commutation current is made to flow through the tap to widen the time ratio. Moreover, the main switch is driven by a pulse transformer, and a P-channel FET or a PNP transistor is used to simplify a drive circuit of the main switch. Furthermore, surge energy, generated from leak inductance caused by adding the middle tap, is regenerated and reused by providing it with a lossless snubber circuit or making it operate in soft switching. Furthermore, the drive circuit for an auxiliary switch for a soft switching action is simplified.
