The optical recording medium comprises 2 layers of material adjacent each other. The two layers cooperate as a medium for forming an optically detectable deformation by thermal expansion of the first material without liquefaction or gasification of the materials when the first layer is locally heated with light radiation of first preselected wavelength. The two materials are bonded to each other to enable the second layer to hold the first material in stretched, expanded condition upon cessation of the light radiation and cooling of the first material, retaining the optically detectable deformation. The second layer is sufficiently strong and rigid to hold the first material in stretched, expanded condition. |
