<p>PURPOSE:To secure a yet more smooth output characteristic over a yet more extensive driving range by controlling respective operating states of both first and second superchargers and a tappet valve selector means selectively according to output of a driving state detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A driving state of an engine 1 is accurately grasped by engine speed and intake negative pressure at an electronic control circuit 28. Then, a supercharger 4 preset so as to accord an operating range with a low speed driving area, and a turbocharger 3 preset so as to accord it with a high speed driving area both are operated each according to each driving state grasped whereby supercharging pressure conformed to the driving state is generated. In addition, in order to effectively utilize this generated supercharging pressure, each operating state of both intake and exhaust valves is selected stepwise by a tappet valve system 30 and thus rationalization of both intake and exhaust efficiencies should be promoted. Therefore a yet more proper output torque characteristic conformed to engine speed and intake negative pressure can be secured.</p> |
