PURPOSE:To perform information processing continuously even if a control circuit breaks down, by providing >=1 set of control circuit, a standby control circuit for a head disk assembly, a switching control circuit, a switch, etc. CONSTITUTION:Address information from a CPU is sent to control circuits 2a- 2c through a magnetic disk controller (DKC) 1. When the circuit 2a is addressed, read data from a head disk assembly (HDA) 3a are transferred to the CPU through a switch circuit 5a, the circuit 2a, and the DKC 1. In this case, if the read data of the HDA 3a have an error due to a fault of the circuit 2a, etc., the error is detected by the DKC 1 to inform the CPU of the error. In response to the reporting, the CPU instructs the DKC 1 to perform rereading operation repeatedly prescribed times. Then, a switching control circuit 4 switches the circuit 5a and succeeding information transfer between the DKC 1 and HDA 3a is allowed through a standby control circuit 2x. Thus, the information processing operation is carried out continuously. |
