PURPOSE:To obtain the titled low-foamed body excellent in appearance, texture, strength, etc., by preforming a raw material composition made up of a particular phenolic resin, a cellulosic filler and a foaming agent using a mold, and then immediately modling under heating and pressure. CONSTITUTION:First, a mixture made up of a novolak type or resol type phenolic resin, a cellulosic filler such as a powder of wood, chaff, or the like, and a foaming agent is kneaded and made into a sheet and the sheet is ground to prepare the raw material comosition. The inside of one of male and female molds is heated and the raw material composition is charged into the inside, is spread as quickly as possible on 70% or more of the area of the forming section of said mold and in 80% or more of the space of the recess and is preformed. Then immediately after that, the other mold that has been heated is pressed to perform the molding under heating to obtain a phenolic resin low- foamed molded body that has a low specific gravity and excellent quality. |
