MOLDING OF URETHANE RESIN COMPOSITION

Radiation-crosslinked moulding are mode from a compsn. comprising a thermoplastic urethane resin contg. a polyfunctional monomer chosen from trimethylolpropane tri(meth)acrylate and triacrylformal. The monomer is pref. used in an amt. of 0.1-50 pts. wt. per 100 pts. wt. thermoplastic urethane resin. Crosslinking is pref. carried out using electron beam or gamma rays with a total dose of 3-50 Mrad. The radiation crosslinked urethane materials have improved resistance to thermal deformation and resistance to deterioration of tensile strength and elongation when aged in hot water at 100OC. Compsns. with improved flame retardancy can be made by incorporating Sb2O3 and decabromodiphenylether. The compsns are esp. useful as wire covering materials (claimed).
