PURPOSE:To improve the conversion efficiency and increase the laser output, by applying the magnetic field perpendicular to the axis of the discharge fine tube of the laser tube in which the laser material in a gas state is sealed. CONSTITUTION:On both sides of the laser tube 1, the Brewster window 2 is installed. The middle part of the laser tube 1 in the axial direction is constituted by the discharge thin tube 3 which has the thick wall and the small inside diameter. On one side of the discharge thin tube 3, the first large diameter tube 4 is installed, and on the other side the second large diameter tube 5 is installed. The integral-type permanent magnet is so arranged that it supplies the magnetic field in the perpendicular direction to the axis of the discharge thin tube 3. When the magnetic field is applied to the discharge thin tube 3 by the permanent magnet 8, the cycrotron motion occurs on account of the electric field and the magnetic field. Therefore, the electrons of the layer material in a gas state drift toward the tube wall colliding with the neutral gas particles, and the mobility of electrons in the axial direction is decreased. |
