PURPOSE:To easily confirm a variable defining sentence by providing a function to discriminate the variable defining sentence included in a text under edition and to show the decided sentence on a part of a screen. CONSTITUTION:When an editor with a variable defining sentence display function is started, a work area is secured on a disk on edit a source program. Thus the source program is read into the work area. If the specific keys, e.g., '1' and '2' are not inputted during the edition of the source program, the present state is kept as it is. When the key '1' is inputted, a variable defining sentence display program is carried out. Then a variable defining sentence erasion program 14 is carried out with the input of the key '2'. Thus the variable defining sentence is automatically discriminated and displayed by depressing a specific key. Then a user can easily and quickly display and confirm the variable defining sentence on the screen.
