Salts, of formula (I), of S'-Methylthio-5'-deoxyadenosine (MTA) with long-chain alkylsulphonic acids are prepd. (where R= C6-18 linear or branched alkyl). Prepn. of (I) comprises dissolving the Na salt of RSO3H in distilled water, dissolving MTA in distilled water contg. conc. H2SO4, and mixing to ppte. (I). (I) have central and peripheral vasodilatory activity; platelet anti-aggregation activity and antiinflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activity; and are useful in the treatment of cerebral and peripheral vasculopathies (presenile or senile) in which the atherosclerotic degenerative process in the vasal wall alters the haematic flow.
